Cornerstone Staff

Rev. Dan Donovan

Cornerstone United Reformed Church will once again, as of this week, have a full-time pastor. It is our conviction that faithful preaching of the Word of God is the most important single source of blessing for the whole congregation. A committee appointed by our Consistory has been diligent in searching for the man to recommend for a call to serve us. We now thank them for their work and invite all who read these pages to join us in praying that God will richly bless Rev. Donovan's ministry of the Word of God.

  Rev. Jay A. Wesseling (Emeritus)

Rev. Jay A. Wesseling was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he attended Christian grade school and Grand Rapids Christian High. While a senior in high school he enlisted in the US Navy, serving in 1945 and 1946. Upon discharge, he attended Calvin College, graduating in 1950 and Calvin Seminary from which he graduated in 1953. He has served Christian Reformed Churches in Holland and Sully in Iowa, Jenison, Michigan, Seattle, Washington and Zeeland and Walker in Michigan before coming to his last pastorate at First CRC of Sheldon. He retired in 1994, joining the Cornerstone URC of Hudsonville, Michigan and serving as their Administrative Pastor for 5 years until he moved to Sheldon with his second wife, the former Kathleen Bousema. His church attendance at Sanborn is about 1/3 of the time, with the rest of the Sundays spent filling the pulpits of various United Reformed Churches around the country, which is a great joy since preaching is his first love.

Rev. G. I. Williamson

After US Army service in WWII G. I. Williamson, an Iowa native, graduated from Drake University in Des Moines in 1949 and Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary in 1952. He served briefly in the old United Presbyterian Church of North America, Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. But most of his ministry has been in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Churches of New Zealand. He's well-known to many Presbyterian and Reformed people from his published writings. With approval of both their OPC Presbytery and the Sanborn URC, he and his wife Doris are associate members at Cornerstone. To see some of his writings go to: http://www.nethtc.net/~giwopc/  (To hear some of his sermons go to this site and click on the link to audio sermons at the bottom of the opening page).
